Instructions

  1. Candidates can either submit their applications online till 5.45 P.M. on 21/12/2010 or through applications obtained from the Commission’s Office/Head Post Offices.

  2. Fees : Rs.130/- (Rs. 100 - Examination Fee + Rs. 30 - Application Fee). The fee should be paid only through Postal Receipt obtained from any one of the Post Offices and Sub-Post offices. Candidates applying Online should possess and keep ready the Postal Receipt for this amount before start entering the details.

  3. Procedure to apply online:

    4. After confirmation, click "Yes, Generate Online Application Form" button.

    5. An unique application number will be generated. Kindly note it.

    6. Type the application Number and your date of Birth to generate online application form.

    7. Print the generated application forms (2 pages), affix your signature, paste one recent passport size photograph, affix the Postal Receipt towards the Examination Fee and Application Fee in the 2nd page and send it to the Commission's Office on or before the last date.

    Note: Mere data entry of application alone is not an online registration. Online application forms without Signature and photograph will be summarily rejected

  4. Last date: The candidates can register their particulars online and generate printout till 5.45 P.M. on 21/12/2010. They will have to generate the printout of the filled-up application form by clicking 'YES, Generate Online Application Form' button, paste one recent passport size photograph, affix the Postal Receipt towards the Examination Fee and Application Fee, affix the signature and send it to the Commission’s Office on or before 23/12/2010 - 5.45 P.M.

  5. Before taking the printout of the Application Form, make sure that both Top and Bottom margins of the print area will have only 3 mm. (This can be adjusted using File->Page Setup option of the browser.).

UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2011

UPSC (Union Public Service commission) conducts Engineering Examination for recruitment in various engineering services/posts in various Government Departments. The recruitment is done for three categories: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. These jobs are considered to be highly reputed therefore a large number of candidates appear for CMSE exam but there are only a limited vacancies (nearly 500-600) so the selection is quite tough. The selected candidates get a handsome pay in addition to several other incentives of Government jobs and job security.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates applying for Engineering Services Exam should have an engineering degree from a recognized institute or be in their final year. Also candidates with MSc. Degree or equivalent in Wireless Communications, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering will be eligible for certain posts only. A candidate should be more than 21 years and less than 30 years of age as on 1st August, 2011. There are relaxations in age limit for various reserved categories. A candidate should be medically and physically fit according to the specified requirements. The candidates have to be a citizen of India and that he or she should be mentally as well as physically sound during the recruitment process. Observation of any time of trauma related o body or brain will directly result in terminating of the recruitment call.

Details of Examination:

The examination is conducted in two parts: Written Tests & Personality Test. Written Tests are of 1000 marks total consisting of 5 papers of 200 marks each. First paper is General Ability Paper consisting of objective type questions from General English and General Studies which includes knowledge of current events, Indian History and Geography. Rest 4 papers are specific to the relevant engineering discipline. Of these first two papers will be objective type and the rest two papers will be subjective type.

For objective type questions each question will have 4 options and there is a negative marking of 1/3rd marks allotted to the question for an incorrect answer.

Personality Test consists of an interview to judge the candidate’s knowledge in the relevant engineering field and General Knowledge and other skills and requirements like the candidate’s capacity for leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, tact and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, powers of practical application and integrity of character.

The UPSC application form for IES exam consists of the application form along with an Information Brochure containing general instructions for filling up the form, an acknowledgement card and an envelope for sending the application.

On getting the IES exam form, read the instructions in the Information Brochure and fill up the application form. How to fill the IES exam forms is also clearly explained in this website. Affix a postage stamp of Rs.6/- on the Acknowledgement Card. Use only the envelope provided with the UPSC form for sending the application form & the Acknowledgement Card. Also write the name of examination viz. "Indian Engineering Service Examination, 2010" on top of the envelope. You also need to pay the IES exam fee of Rs. 100.00 (Rupees One hundred only) in the form of a single Central Recruitment Fee stamp (NOT postage stamps) which must be obtained from the post office, with the date stamp of the post office and affixed on the application form in the space provided. No fee for Females/SCs/STs/Physically Handicapped candidates.

Also to avail extended last date for far-flung areas, send the forms only through ordinary post/speed post and not by courier.
